Marco Rubio’s Thirsty Dilemma

By Breeanne Howe

Poor Marco Rubio.  Even after delivering an outstanding response to the president’s State of the Union (SOTU) address Tuesday night, the news of the day is the awkward break he took during his speech to grab a drink of water.  Knowing the move would not be dismissed, Rubio even tweeted about the incident shortly after his parched appearance.

Of course that didn’t stop the oncoming flood of tweets…

And pictures…

Wednesday morning Senator Rubio appeared on Fox and Friends to discuss the SOTU, but couldn’t escape the needed explanation of why he needed water in the middle of his speech.  Said Rubio:

I figured I was better off taking the water and taking the hit for it than being unable to pronounce my words. It had been a long day at work, we had already done an 18-minute recording in Spanish. My mouth got dry — what can I say?

Rubio brought along another bottle of water to his Fox and Friends interview and good-naturedly took a sip before diving into the SOTU discussion.
